Varsity Football – Final Game of the Season

The Muncie Southside High School Rebel Varsity football team ended its season with a second round sectional loss to the Delta Eagles, 6-28.

The Rebels started strong recovering a fumble on Delta’s first drive. But the tale of the game was a list of turnovers and penalties at crucial times that didn’t allow the Rebels to get any momentum.

At 8-3, this was one of the best seasons in Rebel history – certainly one of the best in recent memory. We say “Thank You” to the players for giving us excitement and pride throughout the year.

Varsity Football – Sectional First Round Victory

The Muncie Southside High School Rebel Varsity football team notched its sixth straight victory by defeating the Marion Giants 35 – 14 in a first round Class 4A sectional game.

After scoring an early touchdown and going up 8 – 0, the Giants were outscored 35 – 6 by the Rebels. With a slim lead of 21 – 8 at the half, the Rebels traded touchdowns and had a 28 – 14 lead when Coty Reynolds snagged an interception late in the game and ran it back for the final score of the game.

The Rebels travel a short distance to Delta Friday, October 29, for the sectional semi-finals. After losing to Delta 6 – 7 in last year’s “Mud Bowl” sectional contest and 14 – 23 in this year’s regular season game, the Rebels are primed to avenge the losses and make it to the sectional finals for the third time in the last four years.

Varsity Football – Final Regular Season Game

The Muncie Southside High School Rebel Varsity Football team put an exclamation point on a fantastic (and possibly historic) season by posting a 34 – 7 win over South Dearborn.

The Rebels traveled two hours to play the Knights and avenged a close loss at home last year. The win puts the Rebels at 7 – 2 and marks the fourth winning season in a row for Coach Mike Paul’s team in his 33rd season.

The team will now gear up for a home sectional contest against Marion. The Giants have won six of their last seven – the only loss in that stretch being a one-point loss in overtime. The Rebels appear to be hitting on all cylinders and will need to be on the top of their game on Friday.

Varsity Football – Senior Night Spectacular

The Muncie Southside High School Rebel Varsity Football Team gave its fans their money’s worth on Senior Night when they hosted the Greenville (Ohio) Green Waves.

With the Rebels trailing 28 – 21, Jackie Thomas and crew marched in for a touchdown with less then 30 seconds remaining. Luckily, the Green Waves hadn’t scouted Coach Paul well enough to know that he doesn’t play for a tie. The Rebels lined up for the tieing extra point kick but pulled off the fake when Nick Dyer took the snap, rolled right and threw a pass that was tipped by a Greenville player into the waiting hands of a Rebel receiver for the win. A one-point win that had the fans on the edge of their seat all night long.

Varsity Football – Another Shutout

For the second time this season, the Muncie Southside High School Rebel Varsity team has a shutout on their resume. The 60 – 0 drubbing of the Connersville Spartans on Friday came close to equaling their largest shutout of 69 – 0 from 2007, against the same team. The Rebels continue to improve and prepare for the Sectional tournament that is just a few weeks away.

Varsity Football – Another Delta Loss

Although the Muncie Southside High School Rebels lost to Delta this Friday, the score shows that the team is certainly as good, if not better, then last year.
