Muncie Southside Will Live On

The Muncie Community Schools Board, at their regular meeting on October 12, 2010, voted to accept one of the recommendations of a Blue Ribbon Task Force – that the Muncie Community Schools Board of School Trustees retain two comprehensive high schools; however, the Board would revisit the one vs. two high school issue if ever the district’s total 9-12 grade enrollment fell below 1,700 (current enrollment of the combined high schools is 1,946 students).

This puts to rest, at least for this year, the anxiousness created by not knowing the possible outcome. While there will still be a lot of changes expected due to budgetary constraints, plans can be made for the 2011-2012 school year.
